Dripping Springs 6-10, Kerrville Tivy 7-4: Dripping Springs slammed four homers, including a three-run shot by Taylor Norwood, to win the deciding third game of a Class 4A playoff series against Kerrville Tivy.
The Tigers (26-7) lost the second game of the best-of-three series Saturday afternoon, but jumped ahead 5-0 in the first inning of Game 3. Parker French smacked a two-run homer before Norwood added his three-run shot.
Conner McMullin and Colton Brown later added solo homers in the victory.
Dripping Springs will face Lake Travis in the regional quarterfinals. Tivy finished with a 17-8 record.
Anderson 6-1, Corpus Christi Carroll 4-4: Anderson extended its 5A playoff series to a third game, but Corpus Christi Carroll (29-7) won the deciding contest at Cabaniss Field in Corpus Christi.
The Trojans (24-14) lost the series opener 3-1 on Thursday night.
Andre Wheeler threw six scoreless innings for Anderson while protecting a 1-0 lead in Game 3, but the Trojans gave up four unearned runs in the top of the seventh, when Carroll's leadoff hitter reached on an error.
Stony Point 8-3, Klein 5-5: Klein rebounded from a Game 2 loss to eliminate Stony Point from the 5A playoffs.
The Tigers (23-14-1) won the second game of the best-of-three area series as Brad Vachon threw a complete-game six-hitter, striking out seven.
In the series' deciding game, Klein (26-6) jumped ahead 5-1 after four innings, and the Tigers' two-run rally in the seventh came up short.
Lake Travis 3, Boerne Champion 0: Left-hander Jason Harris (7-3) helped Lake Travis complete a sweep of its 4A area-round series against Boerne Champion. The Cavaliers (24-14) jumped ahead 2-0 in the first inning, and Harris held onto the lead.
Lake Travis won the opening game 6-3 on Thursday night.
Hays 4, Nederland 1: Dylan Salinas drove in two runs as Hays (24-7) closed out its 4A playoff series against Nederland in two games.
Shane Kelley (10-1) picked up the win for the Rebels, who blanked Nederland (21-8) 4-0 on Thursday night.
Bridge City 4, Taylor 1: Matt Hicks (11-0) picked up the win as Bridge City (23-5-1) eliminated Taylor from the 3A playoffs.
Because of inclement weather on Friday, the teams scaled back their best-of-three area-round series to a single-game playoff.
Taylor finished with a 28-8 record.
Thorndale 4, Shiner 3: Paxton Jordan picked up the win, and Kevin Patek homered as Thorndale won a single-game Class A playoff against Shiner. The Bulldogs (19-10) will face Bremond or Flatonia in the regional quarterfinals.
Softball
Late Friday
New Braunfels Canyon 19, Lampasas 3: Wisconsin signee Stephanie Peace hit a two-run homer in the first inning as New Braunfels Canyon, the defending Class 4A state champion, swept a regional quarterfinals series against Lampasas.
Canyon (30-2) led 11-0 after the third inning, and the Cougarettes finished with 14 hits.
Peace smacked two homers and drove in seven runs in the two-game series at Westlake High School.
The Cougarettes will face Alice in the Region IV semifinals.
