The Shoemaker Grey Wolves held district-leading Bryan to five points in the second quarter.
They had a 10-point lead at the half and had Anthony Gonzales go off for 24 points.
It still was not enough to come out with the victory.
Trailing 35-25 at the half, the Vikings outscored the Grey Wolves 27-16 in the third quarter and came back to defeat Shoemaker 64-60 at Bryan High on Tuesday.
"They just made a run and got back in it," said Shoemaker coach Marc Minatrea. "It was really a back-and-forth game until the end."
Bryan (22-6, 7-1 in District 12-5A) was led by sophomore sensation J-Mychal Reese, who scored 32 points in the win.
In a physical game, Bryan's ability to get to the free-line was a factor at the end, Minatrea said.

Lake Travis girls 4, Killeen 0 – At Killeen, a red card put the Lady Roos down a man for most of the second half and Lake Travis took advantage, adding to its 2-0 halftime lead for the shutout win to open District 49-4A play.
The ejection forced Killeen to play 10 players instead of 11 for roughly the final 26 minutes of the second half. The Lady Roos (2-7-3, 0-1) trailed 2-0 at the time, but were forced to move players back as coach Richard Romeo replaced a forward on the field with a midfielder.
Despite the four goals, Killeen goalie Raquera Rivas finished with 14 saves.
