Texas quarterback Colt McCoy was one of 16 finalists selected Thursday for the Campbell Trophy, considered to be college football's academic Heisman.

Kansas quarterback Todd Reesing, a former Lake Travis High School star, also was named a finalist. As was Florida's Tim Tebow, who like McCoy also is a top contender for the Heisman Trophy.

The winner will receive a $25,000 scholarship for post-graduate work. Each finalist receives $18,000.

Other finalists include Illinois guard Jon Asamoah; BYU linebacker Matt Bauman; Minnesota receiver Eric Decker; Fresno State safety Moses Harris; Western Michigan quarterback Tim Hiller; Brown defensive tackle Paul Jasinowski; Morningside College receiver Beau Kildow; Northern Iowa linebacker Josh Mahoney; Tusculum tight end Jarrell NeSmith; Baylor linebacker Joe Pawelek; Hardin-Simmons receiver Zavious Robbins; Augustana College offensive lineman Blaine Westemeyer and West Virginia linebacker Reed Williams.

McCoy is a three-time first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection. He's set to graduate in December with a degree in sports management. He is also a five-time member of UT's Athletics Director's Honor Roll. His community service work has been recognized as well.

Brown takes blame for starts vs. OSU

Oklahoma State quarterback Zac Robinson's understanding of what he needs to do has the Cowboys in the position to take control of the Big 12 South on Saturday, head coach Mike Gundy said.

Robinson leads the Big 12 in pass efficiency.

"He's playing well right now. He's managing the game very well," said Gundy, himself a former OSU quarterback.

"Being a good quarterback is being able to manage the game in understanding what your strengths are and where their weaknesses are and try to attack those areas using what your strengths are as an offense."
