Today will be one of the warmest days of the week which will feed our afternoon storms. Highs today will be in the 90s for many of us. I'm putting us at 93 in Austin. Our record for today is 96 which was set back in 1967. We'll be close. Most of the day will be pretty quiet. We don't turn active until after the 3PM hour IF the cap breaks. A cap is like a lid on the atmosphere keeping everything calm and collected. If that breaks, we will turn active. Models this morning put storms in the Hill Country starting to blossom around the evening commute -- beginning to head towards the western edges of Williamson and Travis counties this evening. Most of the action will be in our Hill Country but we may need to watch for some of these to close in to our metro areas as well. Highest threat for severe storms will be wind damage and potential hail. Something to monitor throughout the day if you can. Severe threat diminishes but scattered storms are still possible Wednesday PM, Thursday PM and Friday AM before we get a break lasting from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. Despite the threat for storms 6 of the next 7 days, rainfall totals don't look impressive with most spots picking up less than 1/2". The exception - if a severe storm fires where you are, a quick 1"+ could fall. Highs this week will bounce from the upper 80s to lower 90s each day, including the weekend.
