Austin Lake Travis, winner of 4-straight state titles, gets no first-place votes

The Associated Press state rankings are out, and I don't see many surprises. Allen at the top in 5A, followed by a pair of longtime powerhouses: Katy and Euless Trinity. The other teams that got No. 1 votes were defending 5A Div. I champion Pearland and DeSoto, which is breaking in a lot of new players but looks loaded with potential.

In 4A, you've got Aledo up top and Denton Ryan at No. 2. The strength of those teams show in the fact that Austin Lake Travis, which has won four straight state titles, didn't get a single No. 1 vote.

Other North Texas teams in the rankings include Coppell in 5A, Highland Park in 4A and Argyle and Celina in 3A. Here are the full rankings.
