Cameron Yoe quarterback Jack Rhoades has been named the All-Central Texas Player of the Year. Rhoades becomes the first Class 2A player to win the award and his selection interrupts Lake Travis’ three-year run (Garrett Gilbert 2007-08, Andy Erickson 2009) with the honor.
Wimberley junior quarterback Brady Lambert has been named the 2010 Newcomer of the Year while Lake Travis’ Hank Carter earned the Coach of the Year award.
This season, Rhoades led Cameron Yoe to within a touchdown of the Class 2A, Division I title. Rhoades, an all-district punter last season who was in his first season as Cameron Yoe’s quarterback, threw for 3,567 yards and 48 touchdowns on 241-of-361 passing this season. He also ran for six touchdowns.
An all-state quarterback and punter, Rhoades averaged 42.3 yards per punt and had eight of his punts last inside the opponent’s 10.
Rhoades was also honored on Sunday with two spots on the All-Central Texas team. Rhoades made the first team as a quarterback and punter.
Thirty-eight schools are represented on this year’s All-Central Texas team. Lake Travis leads the league with six honorees while Stony Point and Cedar Park each had five players make the cut.
